Need help with the Boot sequence on the PhoenixBIOS Setup Utility on Virtual Machine instance.
Details:
- I have a VSphere host running with VSphere hypervisor (free version) - ESXi 5.1. Virtual machines are created that's running Guest RHEL OS.
- I want to re-install a different version of Linux in the Virtual machine instance. I have a bootable USB drive (with all that's required for linux install) connected to the USB ports on the VSphere Host.
- Changed the Virtual Machine's Boot option setting to Force entry to BIOS Setup and changed the Boot sequence. There is no option for USB however there was option for Removable drive, so set that as 1st in the sequence.
- On Reboot, Virtual Machine does not boot with USB but goes to boot from the hard drive.
- It doesn't seem to be any issue with the USB drive as the Virtual Machine is able to detect the drive and shows status as "Connected". Also I could mount the drive and able to see files etc. from within Guest OS.
- Seems to be some issue with boot sequence setting in Phoenix BIOS Setup. When i change the order and put CD-ROM as first, it's able to boot out of the bootable disk in the CD-ROM (connected via same USB port).
Thanks in advance for your help and answers.
